Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Contaminated Eggs

Egg Recall Alert

To protect consumers, a recall has been initiated for these contaminated eggs. The recalled products are large brown cage-free “sunshine/omega-3 golden” yolk eggs with the code No. CA-7695 and “sell by” dates ranging from July 1, 2025, to September 16, 2025.

These eggs were distributed to grocery stores and foodservice establishments in California and Nevada, but the investigation notes that they may have been distributed to additional states. If you have these eggs in your possession, do not eat, sell, or serve them. They should be immediately discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Understanding the Risks of Salmonella

Salmonella is a serious bacterium that can lead to a foodborne illness called salmonellosis. Symptoms often include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Abdominal cramps

While symptoms usually resolve on their own, a Salmonella infection can be severe, especially for young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. A severe infection may spread from the intestines to the bloodstream and other parts of the body, potentially leading to hospitalization and, in rare cases, even death. Even a subclinical infection can lead to severe complications such as Reactive Arthritis.
