OFT Food Safety & Injury Lawyers are investigating a newly announced outbreak of Cyclospora illnesses that was announced on May 24, 2023. As of yet, no specific source has been identified for the outbreak, but we expect to uncover it soon.
This is the fourth consecutive summer that OFT’s Cyclospora Lawyers have been contacted by victims of Cyclospora poisoning. Three years ago, a very similar outbreak of Cyclospora was linked to bagged salads distributed by Fresh Express, Inc. On June 22, 2020 OFT filed the first lawsuit on behalf of nearly 100 clients who ate the bagged salad from ALDI or Hy-Vee and later became seriously ill with severe Cyclospora symptoms. Fresh Express Inc. and Aldi Inc. were named in the lawsuits.
A serious Cyclospora outbreak has the potential to sicken people throughout the United States. This is a developing situation, and our investigation continues. This page will be updated as events unfold.
