Outbreak Summary

OFT Food Safety & Injury Lawyers are investigating at least two multistate outbreaks of Cyclospora illnesses. The first was announced by the FDA on July 27, 2022, and currently at least 60 people are known to be sick in that outbreak. On August 3, 2022 the FDA announced another (apparently separate) outbreak that has sickened at least 6. As of yet, no specific source has been identified in either outbreak.

This is the third consecutive summer that OFT’s Cyclospora Lawyers have been contacted by victims of Cyclospora poisoning. Two years ago, a very similar outbreak of Cyclospora was linked to bagged salads distributed by Fresh Express, Inc. On June 22, 2020 OFT filed the first lawsuit on behalf of nearly 100 clients who ate the bagged salad from ALDI or Hy-Vee and later became seriously ill with severe Cyclospora symptoms. Fresh Express Inc. and Aldi Inc. were named in the lawsuits.

A serious Cyclospora outbreak has the potential to sicken people throughout the United States. This is a developing situation, and our investigation continues. This page will be updated as events unfold.

OFT Law has represented hundreds of people sickened by Cyclospora. If you or a loved one has been affected by this outbreak, please contact using the form above or give us a call at 888-828-7087.
