Homepage > OFT Law Investigating Salmonella Outbreak Associated with LA County Fair Vendor
June 17, 2026
Posted by: OFT Food Safety & Injury Lawyers
OFT Law is actively investigating an outbreak of Salmonella illnesses following exposure to food prepared by a vendor at the LA County Fair over Memorial Day weekend. The LA County Department of Health has identified more than one individual who ate at a particular booth and subsequently developed Salmonella infections. We believe that the public health investigation is ongoing and may isolate a particular food item responsible or an ill food handler.
If you have information relating to this potential outbreak, please contact us. We can direct you to the proper agency and give you information about a potential lawsuit.
What you need to know about Salmonella.
Salmonella is a very common foodborne pathogen. Food contaminated with Salmonella looks, smells and tastes completely normal. The incubation period – the period between consuming food contaminated with Salmonella and your first symptoms – can be as short as 6 hours or as long as six days. Symptoms usually include diarrhea, intense stomach cramping and fever. For most people these symptoms will work through the body within a week or so; however, severe cases can include life-threatening blood infections and other complications. More information about Salmonella infections is available here.
What you should do if you believe you contracted Salmonella.
If you believe you contracted Salmonella, you should contact a medical provider as soon as possible. Explain that you were potentially exposed to Salmonella and request a stool culture to test for Salmonella. Make sure to record and keep any evidence of exposure to Spud Ranch and any other potential food that made you sick.
